For many families with seriously ill children, the road ahead can feel like an uphill climb. Along with our partner the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philadelphia Region (RMHC Philly), Nuna is working to help lighten their load.
On top of the financial burdens and emotional stress of leaving their homes in search of the best care for their children, these families have had to keep them safe — as their children are especially at risk of fatal outcomes if they contract the COVID-19 virus.
RMHC Philly provides a haven to families facing this daunting situation every day. Nuna has worked with RMHC Philly by providing donations to outfit their space with our top-of-the-line baby gear and in-house enhancements, in addition to virtual events and activities to entertain guests during their stay.

We’ve provided RMHC Philly with our favorite in home products, as well as our award-winning car seats for safe traveling to and from doctor’s appointments and healthcare facilities. One third of the rooms were stocked with Nuna gear in 2020, and we are moving forward to provide gear for an additional third of the rooms in 2021.

"COVID-19 has made numerous families economically fragile, and many parents have lost their jobs and some will unfortunately learn this summer that they have a seriously ill child. These families are going to need our help more than ever," says RMHC Philly CEO, Susan Campbell.
As we prepared the donated inventory, we learned that one of the guest families, the Fonseca-Gonzalez family, was particularly in need and decided to provide them with an array of products they could keep.
The Fonseca-Gonzalez family has stayed at RMHC Philly for almost a year while their twins, Jeremiah and Isiah, receive treatment for a life-threatening immune system condition at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The twins’ father lost his job due to closures at his place of employment, making their financial burden even more unbearable. RMHC Philly staff have been working with the family to ensure that they will be able to afford a permanent home in Philadelphia so that they can stay close to the hospital and continue their children’s treatment.
Nuna’s gift to the Fonseca-Gonzalez family will undoubtedly help their transition and allow them to focus on the health of their children.
Since 2019, Nuna has supported RMHC Philly, and we are dedicated to offering ongoing, continuous support for the future, too. We look forward to strengthening our partnership through the creation of co-programming for the families and children of RMHC Philly.
